Baseball Game Preview: Lumberton Raiders vs. Jasper Bulldogs

The Lumberton Raiders will square off against the Jasper Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lumberton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Jasper's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Lumberton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Jasper a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Hudson Emerson made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Gavin Harmse was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Cody, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Lumberton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.

Lumberton's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-5-1. As for Jasper, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Jasper's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lumberton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338.
