Softball Recap: 18 Straight Road Victories for La Salle Academy

La Salle Academy faced North Kingstown in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Rams blew past the Skippers 14-1. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Skippers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Gia DeNinno spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Phoenyx Silva was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Sophia Morgan also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: La Salle Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches.

La Salle Academy pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average this season. As for North Kingstown, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Looking ahead, La Salle Academy will host Pilgrim at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for North Kingstown, they will head out to challenge Scituate at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Skippers surely won't give up without a fight.
