Basketball Recap: Pepin Academy Takes a Loss

Pepin Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Riverview Academy of Math and Science Barracudas and fell 75-31. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Pepin Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-12 last Tuesday.

Riverview Academy of Math and Science was led to victory by Aaron Riley and Caden Cook. Riley went 8 of 18 on his way to 20 points, while Cook dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Riley's third in a row with at least ten points. Tayshaun Johnson was another key player, putting up six points and six steals.

Pepin Academy's record now sits at 0-4. As for Riverview Academy of Math and Science, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Pepin Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on American Youth Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 16, 2025. As for Riverview Academy of Math and Science, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Winter Haven Christian at 6:30 p.m. Riverview Academy of Math and Science is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
