Basketball Game Preview: Franklinton Red Rams vs. Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets

The Franklinton Red Rams will take on the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Franklinton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 65-58 win over Louisburg. Given the Red Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Warriors are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Franklinton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kirby Ransom led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Zymir Lipscomb was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Roanoke Rapids put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 57-51 W over Northampton County.

Roanoke Rapids' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Franklinton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Franklinton came up short against Roanoke Rapids in their previous matchup back in January, falling 54-49.
