On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Mosqueda, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Garces Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Lompoc on Tuesday.
Jaiden Gutierrez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Garces Memorial let Reese Bowles and Giuliana Martinez run wild. Bowles went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Martinez went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Izzy Frye, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Garces Memorial pushed their record up to 20-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Monache, their record now sits at 16-5-1.
Monache came up short against Garces Memorial when the teams last played back in April of 2021, falling 7-3. Can the Marauders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
