Basketball Game Preview: Marion County Warriors vs. Van Buren County Eagles

The Marion County Warriors will head out on the road to take on the Van Buren County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Marion County was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Boyd Christian.

Meanwhile, Van Buren County waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Warriors 70-40. The Eagles' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Marion County better focus on containing Cara Mills and Abigial Netherton as the pair were huge in Van Buren County's win. Mills went 10 for 15 on her way to 21 points and seven rebounds, while Netherton went 6 of 11 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and six steals. The contest was Mills' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Grissom, who posted eight points and four steals.

Van Buren County was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Van Buren County pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Marion County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Marion County might still be hurting after the 60-34 loss they got from Van Buren County in their previous matchup back in January of 2021. Can Marion County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
