If Venice was feeling good fresh off their 27-7 takedown of University last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gondoliers fell just short of the Palisades Dolphins by a score of 56-54 on Friday. On the bright side, the 54- point effort marked the Gondoliers' highest-scoring game to date.

When it comes to explaining why Venice lost, don't look at Bennett Dome. Despite the final result, he threw for 373 yards and three TDs.

Palisades' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jack Thomas led the charge by throwing for 473 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 52 yards. With that strong performance, Thomas is now averaging an impressive 313.7 passing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Harrison Carter, who gained 187 total yards and three touchdowns.

Venice now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Palisades, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Venice wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 24-0 win against Fairfax on the 16th. As for Palisades, they have also already played their next contest, a 19-17 victory against University on the 17th.
