Zionsville faced Westfield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Shamrocks with a sharp 11-3 victory. 11 seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Zionsville got a great performance from Carter Lowe as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave Lowe a new career-high.

At the plate, Matt Pedersen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Nick Wahl was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Zionsville is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Westfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Zionsville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-0 win against Lincoln-Way East on the 10th. As for Westfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 4-0 victory against Greenwood Christian Academy on the 12th.
