Volleyball Game Preview: Sierra Canyon Trailblazers vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

Sierra Canyon is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Mater Dei is on an 11-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Trailblazers will host the Monarchs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Sierra Canyon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Marymount.

While Sierra Canyon might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Marymount scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei and Torrey Pines (ranked third and fifth in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile match on Saturday. The Monarchs came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 3-1.

The victory didn't come easy: Torrey Pines scored at least 22 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23.

Sierra Canyon's win bumped their record up to 41-3. As for Mater Dei, their victory bumped their record up to 33-5.

Sierra Canyon was able to grind out a solid win over Mater Dei when the teams last played last Saturday, winning 3-1. Will the Trailblazers repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
