Kellam is 1-9 against Ocean Lakes since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Knights will host the Dolphins at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kellam 3.8, Ocean Lakes 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Kellam is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Grafton on Saturday. They fell just short of the Clippers by a score of 2-1.
Meanwhile, Ocean Lakes got themselves on the board against Tallwood on Tuesday, but Tallwood never followed suit. They blew past the Lions 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Tre Hamilton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other pitching news, Aiden Skalski looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Connor Mais was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryan Gocio, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Ocean Lakes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tallwood only posted an OBP of .125.
Ocean Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kellam, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
