Football Recap: Holtville Find Success

Holtville hadn't done well against Southwest EC recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 26-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Eagles last Tuesday, they had to take a 19-2 defeat.

Kadence Toten looked great while leading her team to the win, throwing for 202 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 47 yards. Those three passing touchdowns gave her a new career-high. Melissa Rendon made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Holtville's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Toten with three. Rendon got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Holtville's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Southwest EC, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Holtville will square off against Madison at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Southwest EC, they will challenge La Quinta at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
