Wheeler had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They breezed past the South Central Satellites to the tune of 52-0. The Bearcats have beaten the Satellites the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Satellites has come to flipping the script.
Wheeler's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levi Murray led the charge by rushing for 136 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. The dominant performance also gave Murray a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Tyne Vettickal was in the mix too, providing Wheeler with three touchdowns.
Wheeler didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Conner Welch led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler will venture away from home to face off against Kankakee Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
