Volleyball Recap: Grant Community Comes Up Short

Grant Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Carmel Corsairs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Corsairs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Saturday.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Grant Community sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-22, 16-25, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Grant Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Derrick Rios had eight digs and two aces.

Grant Community's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Carmel, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.

Looking ahead, Grant Community will challenge Grayslake North at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carmel, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Zion-Benton on the 21st.
