Softball Recap: Lake Weir Comes Up Short

Lake Weir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 10-6 to the South Sumter Raiders. If the Hurricanes were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Raiders when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Allison Eason made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Schmitt, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lake Weir's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for South Sumter, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Lake Weir didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against The Villages Charter on the 1st. As for South Sumter, they have also already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Hernando on the 3rd.
