Football Recap: Smithson Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Southside + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Smithson Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They never let the Southside Cardinals get on the board and left with a 49-0 victory. The Rangers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Smithson Valley can attribute much of their success to Ty Knutson, who threw for 169 yards and two touchdowns on only 16 passes.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Smithson Valley proved: they limited Southside to a paltry 0.5 yards per carry. The Rangers' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.5.

The win (which was Smithson Valley's ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.8 points on average over those games. As for Southside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.
