Recap: Wood Memorial Trojans vs. Gibson Southern Titans
The Wood Memorial Trojans lost against the Gibson Southern Titans back in December of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Wood Memorial fell 61-49 to Gibson Southern. Wood Memorial has not had much luck with Gibson Southern recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Gabby Spink was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with six rebounds and five assists for Gibson Southern. The game was Spink's 15th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloey Graham, who scored 15 points.
Wood Memorial has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Gibson Southern, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wood Memorial and North Posey will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. North Posey is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Gibson Southern will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Mt. Vernon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Gibson Southern is ranked 38th).
