The team relied heavily on Ryne Wilhite, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarrett Kinder, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Princeton lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Tell City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 11-3 to South Spencer.
Tell City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Fortwendel, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Ross Melton also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Princeton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tell City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Tell City's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Princeton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .516. It's a different story for Tell City, though, as they've only averaged .314. Will they be able to contain Princeton's hitters?
Princeton took their victory against Tell City in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-3 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marksmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
