Basketball Recap: Enka Comes Up Short

Enka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the North Buncombe Black Hawks, falling 79-55. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Jets struggled afterwards.

When it comes to explaining why Enka lost, don't look at Logan Trantham. Despite the final result, he posted 22 points and six boards. Trantham is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Hyatt Middleton was another key player, putting up ten points.

North Buncombe's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Ledford, who went 9 of 15 en route to 24 points and five assists. With that strong performance, Ledford is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Clark, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Enka's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for North Buncombe, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-6.

Enka wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-40 loss against McDowell on the 16th. North Buncombe has also already played their next contest, a 57-55 defeat against T.C. Roberson on the 15th.
