Football Recap: Boyertown Starts Season with Victory Against Upper Perkiomen

Boyertown had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Upper Perkiomen Indians 20-17. Surprisingly, this marked the Bears' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Leading Boyertown to victory were Tilman Henley and Michael Boorse. Henley rushed for 132 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, while Boorse rushed for 102 yards and one score on only 11 carries. Those 102 rushing yards gave Boorse a new career-high.

Boyertown's run defense was locked in: Upper Perkiomen could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Logan Oakes for the heroic effort on defense: he. Boyertown didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.

Although Upper Perkiomen took the loss, they still got scores from Logan O'Donnell and Johnny Renzi.

Looking ahead, Boyertown will take on Exeter Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Upper Perkiomen, they will square off against Fleetwood at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
