The Bellows Falls Terriers will head out on the road to challenge the Hartford Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bellows Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Bellows Falls is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Woodstock, who was ranked 11th at the time (Bellows Falls was ranked 13th). The Terriers had just enough and edged out the Wasps 9-8 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Terriers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jaden Bazin and Steven Joslyn did most of the damage at the plate: Bazin got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Joslyn got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. Bazin has become a key player for Bellows Falls: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Will Hallock also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bellows Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Hartford came up short against Brattleboro on Monday and fell 5-2. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Hartford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Spaulding, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Bellows Falls' victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hartford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Bellows Falls' speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's match. The Terriers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hartford, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bellows Falls continue to outrun the ball?
Bellows Falls skirted past Hartford 4-3 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Terriers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
