Softball Game Preview: Hand Tigers vs. Trumbull Eagles

The Hand Tigers will take on the Trumbull Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Hand is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Hand beat East Haven 6-2. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Campbell Leckey made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Audrey Sears, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Trumbull faced Danbury in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles fell just short of the Hatters by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Hand now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Trumbull, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
