Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Tommies vs. Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers

The Thompson Tommies and the Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Des Lacs-Burlington is hoping to do what Carrington couldn't on Friday: put an end to Thompson's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Thompson breezed by Carrington to the tune of 61-28.

Thompson had a senior duo take command as Karter Peterson went 9 for 13 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds and Gavin Krogstad went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Krogstad's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Odenbach, who posted five points and 13 rebounds.

Thompson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Des Lacs-Burlington waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Bison 66-27.

Des Lacs-Burlington now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Thompson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Thompson and Des Lacs-Burlington were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but Thompson came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss.
