Basketball Game Preview: St. Charles Cardinals vs. Mifflin Punchers

The St. Charles Cardinals will take on the Mifflin Punchers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Tuesday, St. Charles came up short against Dublin Jerome and fell 45-34. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly 11 points.

Meanwhile, Mifflin was able to grind out a solid victory over Marion-Franklin last Thursday, taking the game 71-64. The win continues a trend for the Punchers in their matchups with the Red Devils: they've now won four in a row.

Mifflin's win came from a few key players St. Charles will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was David McClunley, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 21 points. What's more, he also posted a 57% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Adrian Quirino Hernadez, who posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Mifflin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

St. Charles dropped their record down to 8-14 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Mifflin, their victory bumped their record up to 10-12.
