It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Caliche had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Stratton Eagles 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.
Ryann Svoboda paced Caliche's offense, picking up 18 kills. Svoboda got some help from Lily Armstrong and her 43 assists. Svoboda also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Faye Lueck, each putting up four.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kamryn Talbert, who had 15 digs and two aces. Another player making a difference was Kaylynn Brandon, who had 24 assists and seven digs.
Caliche's win bumped their record up to 16-9. As for Stratton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 19-8.
Caliche has already played their next match, a 3-2 victory against Prairie on the 14th. Stratton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
