The Jay County Patriots will take on the St. Henry Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Jay County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
While Jay County's victory against Fort Recovery wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Patriots skirted past the Indians 3-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.
Mallory Winner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jay County's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Ruble, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base. Ruble has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, St. Henry started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Eaton. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 8-7 on Saturday.
Kennedy Wendel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Leah Lefeld, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
St. Henry's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Jay County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jay County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .451. However, it's not like St. Henry struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Jay County's way against St. Henry in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Jay County made off with a 20-8 win. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
