Softball Recap: Rogers Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Rogers, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hope Blue Wave with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 12 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lila Leys made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tess Margolis was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Margaret Phelps, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Rogers was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .367 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Rogers' win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hope, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-12.

As of now, neither Rogers nor the Blue Wave have any future games scheduled.
