Softball Recap: Unioto's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Unioto dropped their record down to 12-9 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 7-1 to the Adena Warriors. The Shermans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 14-4.

Kendal Walker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Unioto saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Eisel, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

As for Adena, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.2 runs.

On Adena's side, Adelynn Nelson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Nelson has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Guarnieri, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Unioto is set to face off against their familiar foe Huntington at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Adena will square off against rival Piketon at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Warriors have won five straight at home, while the Redstreaks won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
