Football Game Preview: Shields Panthers vs. McKenzie Tigers

The Shields Panthers will venture away from home to square off against the McKenzie Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Shields has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while McKenzie will arrive with four straight wins.

Last Friday, Shields was beaten by Leroy 52-14. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 401st, while the Bears are ranked 117th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McKenzie duked it out with Florala on Friday. The Tigers claimed a resounding 56-28 victory over the Wildcats. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Shields' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for McKenzie, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Shields was taken down by McKenzie 50-0 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
