Basketball Recap: Dunnellon Falls Short of Bishop Moore in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Dunnellon can now relate to. They took a blow against the Bishop Moore Hornets on Thursday, falling 70-22. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Hornets are ranked 84th).

Alex Wolsonovich had a dynamite game for Bishop Moore, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points in addition to six assists and four steals. That's the most points Wolsonovich has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Peterson, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 12 points along with eight assists and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Dunnellon and nudges their season record down to 12-12. As for Bishop Moore, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-13.

Dunnellon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bishop Moore, they will challenge Mulberry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Moore has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 201 points over their last three contests.
