Football Recap: Percy Julian Comes Up Short

Percy Julian extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They took a blow against the Russell County Warriors, falling 56-22. The Phoenix were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-0.

Despite the loss, Percy Julian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Earnest Shuford threw for 152 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 59 yards on only six carries.

As for Russell County, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Considering they have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Bryson Riggins produced another solid performance throwing for 199 yards and three touchdowns. Eugene Robinson was in the mix as well, providing Russell County with two scores.
