Softball Game Preview: Worthington Kilbourne Wolves vs. Lakewood Lancers

The Worthington Kilbourne Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakewood Lancers at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Worthington Kilbourne's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Worthington Kilbourne proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 win over Hamilton Township. While the Wolves didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Becca Boue was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Josie Janosy was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashwika Namala, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lakewood put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Highland.

Worthington Kilbourne pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.the team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team won's by an average of 9.2 runs thus far As for Lakewood, their record now sits at 4-0.

Worthington Kilbourne might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Lakewood when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Worthington Kilbourne avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
