Preview: Deer Valley vs. Freedom

Deer Valley (2-4) and Freedom (5-1) take on one another this Friday at 7:00 PM on Deer Valley's home turf. Deer Valley apparently likes to keep its enemies close seeing as it has had three games decided by three points or fewer so far this season.

Deer Valley couldn't have suffered a more disappointing defeat two weeks ago as it lost by a narrow 36 - 35 margin to Liberty. The loss came about despite a quality game from junior Patrick Robinson, who earned three touchdowns and 108 yards rushing the ball. Robinson has now scored at least one TD in the past five consecutive games.

As for Freedom, last game was the first rocky defensive outing for it this year. It came up short against Pittsburg two weeks ago, falling 47 - 33. However, junior Joey Aguilar didn't go down without a fight as he threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns. This sound performance was nothing new for Aguilar, who has been a rock for Freedom in the past six games. Senior Tyler Dixon offered Freedom additional support, laying down the law -- and the quarterback -- with three sacks.

The last time they met, Freedom was the decided 42 - 0 victor. Deer Valley couldn't get the same offensive movement going as Freedom (415 yards compared to 182 yards), so it will surely be hoping to change that this time around. Will Deer Valley avenge its loss? We'll find out soon enough.
