5A Region III District 21 recap Oct. 23, 2012

North Shore extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region III District 21 this week by beating Sterling, 56-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.

North Shore led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Rangers. Micah Thomas threw for 62 yards and one touchdown and ran for 44 yards in the win.

North Shore's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Thomas has thrown for 836 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Kevian DeLeon has 12 catches for 371 yards. Thomas also leads the league in rushing with 641 yards.

A big matchup in 5A Region III District 21 this week will be when David Aymond's team takes on West Brook. At the moment, the Mustangs are in first, while the Bruins are in fifth.

West Brook made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,202 from 4,502. The improvement was the result of 44-11 victory over Channelview last week.
