Baseball Recap: La Joya Community Victorious

La Joya Community owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Browne Bruins by a score of 3-0. For the Fighting Lobos, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 victory the Bruins walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2019.

Gavino Bustamante made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because La Joya Community is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-4 otherwise. Bustamante was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bustamante wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cayson Hamrick, who went 3-for-4 with one double. The dominant performance gave Hamrick a new career-high in hits. Santiago Carrero Marquez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

La Joya Community's record now sits at 3-4. As for Browne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

La Joya Community didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-2 win against Metro Tech on the 19th. As for Browne, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 victory against Agua Fria on the 17th.
