Softball Recap: Centennial Takes a Loss

Centennial and Garces Memorial squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Centennial had to settle for second. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Hawks in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Centennial got a good showing from Brynlee George, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. George has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Centennial saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Barboza, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for Garces Memorial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season.

Centennial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Garces Memorial, they will take on Stockdale at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
