Preview: Saginaw Rough Riders vs. Brewer Bears

Saginaw is 1-9 against Brewer since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Saginaw Rough Riders will head out on the road to take on the Brewer Bears at 7:30 p.m. Saginaw is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.

Last Tuesday, Saginaw was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-41 to Aledo. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Saginaw came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Aledo is ranked 308th).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jason Roseberry, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Brundage, who scored 14 points.

Meanwhile, Brewer scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Northwest 65-31 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Brewer sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Brewer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayvion Johnson, who scored 12 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Julian Perez, who scored 16 points along with two steals.

Saginaw's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-6. As for Brewer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.

Saginaw didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Brewer in their previous meeting on January 2nd, but they still walked away with a 35-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saginaw since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
