Softball Recap: Byron Victorious

The Byron Bears were able to grind out a solid victory over the Medford Raiders on Saturday, taking the game 9-4.

Tallie Behrens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mackenzie Steele was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaydence Fjerstad, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

The win got Byron back to even at 2-2. As for Medford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Byron will take on Zumbrota-Mazeppa at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Medford, they will head out to face off against Merrill at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
