Baseball Recap: Montebello Comes Up Short

If Montebello was feeling good fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Bell Gardens last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oilers took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Schurr Spartans on Tuesday. The Oilers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Aaron Vallejo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Montebello's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Schurr, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

While Montebello had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
