Preview: Central Valley Warriors vs. Hopewell Vikings
Central Valley is 10-0 against Hopewell since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Central Valley Warriors will be staying on the road to face off against the Hopewell Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Central Valley pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Catholic. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central Valley in their matchups with North Catholic: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Hopewell's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 63-50 to Northgate. While losing is never fun, Hopewell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while Northgate is ranked 151st).
Central Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Hopewell, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Central Valley strolled past Hopewell in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 51-37. Will Central Valley repeat their success, or does Hopewell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
