The Castle View Sabercats will square off against the Highlands Ranch Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Castle View is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took an 80-61 bruising from Doherty. The Sabercats were down 61-37 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite their loss, Castle View saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Evan Mckean, who went 8 of 19 en route to 24 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 39.3% of Castle View's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Blake Graham, who had 15 points.
Meanwhile, Highlands Ranch had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Vista Ridge 69-48 on Tuesday. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 20 points or more this season.
Highlands Ranch's win came from a few key players Castle View will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mason Lane, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of George West III, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 16 points along with five assists and four steals.
Highlands Ranch was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Castle View's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Highlands Ranch, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Castle View hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.3 points per game. However, it's not like Highlands Ranch struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Castle View skirted past Highlands Ranch 59-56 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Castle View since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
