Basketball Recap: Topsail Pirates vs. Laney Buccaneers
Topsail waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 45-35 victory over the Laney Buccaneers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 48-39 last Wednesday.

Leading Topsail to victory were Riley Trimble and Ava Kita. Trimble went 8-for-15 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Kita dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Kita a new career-high in assists (seven).
Despite the defeat, Laney saw an underclassman step up: freshman India Williams almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Aniece Lewis, who posted six points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Topsail's record is now 18-6. As for Laney, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.
