Baseball Game Preview: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Bellevue East Chieftains

The Omaha Central Eagles will head out to square off against the Bellevue East Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Omaha Central came out on top against South Sioux City on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fourth inning. The Eagles walked away with an 8-3 win over the Cardinals. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won four in a row.

Julius Gentleman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oscar Yuhas was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Omaha Central: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-17 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Neujahr, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Burke hit Bellevue East with a four-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 11-1. The Chieftains have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Omaha Central's win bumped their record up to 13-18. As for Bellevue East, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-17.

Omaha Central couldn't quite get it done against Bellevue East in their previous meeting on Friday as they fell 7-4. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
