Softball Game Preview: Fort Knox Eagles vs. Portland Christian Eagles

Fort Knox are taking a road trip to challenge Portland Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Knox has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while Portland Christian will come in with nine straight victories.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Fort Knox's offense. They fell just short of John Hardin by a score of 2-0 on Thursday.

Layna Morgan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

Meanwhile, Portland Christian got the win against Burgin on Monday by a conclusive 17-7. Considering the Eagles have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addie Bragg was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Ava Gish was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Portland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .578. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Burgin only posted an OBP of .412.

Portland Christian pushed their record up to 17-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Fort Knox, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fort Knox has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Portland Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Fort Knox suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Portland Christian in their previous meeting on Tuesday. Can Fort Knox avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
