Basketball Recap: Damian Navarro's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mission Viejo over Tustin

Mission Viejo was the 40-32 winner over Tustin when they last played one another back in December of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Mission Viejo Diablos took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tustin Tillers on Thursday.

Mission Viejo's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damian Navarro, who posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Xander Willard, who put up 13 points.

Mission Viejo has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Tustin, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Mission Viejo won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newport Harbor at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Tustin, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Live Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
