Baseball Recap: Liberty Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Liberty proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Estacado Matadors 9-8. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Matadors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Gavin McPherson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Dylan Thomas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Liberty pushed their record up to 19-8 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Estacado, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-15-1.

Looking ahead, Liberty will square off against Big Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots are facing the Steers at the right time seeing as the Steers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Estacado, they will host Lake View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
