Baseball Recap: Dadeville Wins Going Away Against Comer

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Guntersville, Dadeville was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on Comer with a sharp 24-1 victory. That 23 run margin sets a new team best for Dadeville this season.

Dadeville got a massive performance out of Cam Heard, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Heard is becoming a predictor of Dadeville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Cale Hanks was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Heard wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Dadeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

The win got Dadeville back to even at 4-4. As for Comer, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season.

Dadeville and Comer could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Dadeville will challenge Reeltown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday down 150 places (242 vs. 92). Similarly, Comer (ranked 320th) will meet Billingsley (ranked 69th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
