It's playoff time, and Lakeland Christian had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Santa Fe Catholic Hawks on Monday, sneaking past 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Hawks two weeks ago, they had to take a 5-2 defeat.

Alex Arthur spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Brody Brenneman and Gavin Byrd did most of the damage at the plate: Brenneman went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Byrd got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Lakeland Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Lakeland Christian is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Santa Fe Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 23-7.

Lakeland Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
