Nazareth falls despite strong effort from M. Moore

Recap: Nazareth Kingsmen vs. Monsignor Scanlan Crusaders

The Nazareth Kingsmen pushed their score all the way to 77 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They received a tough blow as they fell 92-77 to Monsignor Scanlan. While losing is never fun, Nazareth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Monsignor Scanlan is ranked first).

Despite the loss, Nazareth still got an impressive performance from M. Moore, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vanessa McManus, who scored 20 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Nazareth and nudges their season record down to 6-8. As for Monsignor Scanlan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nazareth will take on St. John's Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monsignor Scanlan, they will head out on the road to challenge Mary Louis Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Mary Louis Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 436 points over their last seven matches.
