4A Region 8 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Brooks extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 8 this week by beating Wilson, 42-14. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Central led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on Priceville.
Haleyville's dynamic duo of Tanner Ivey and Heath Self proved tough for West Limestone to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ivey threw for 305 yards and one touchdown and Self had 89 yards receiving. Matt Smith helped Haleyville's passing attack out by catching four balls for 76 yards.
Dillon Miller was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 99 yards as the Wildcats beat the Wildcats. Logan Pugh also contributed to the rushing game with 72 yards on the ground.
5-foot-11 quarterback Ivey of Haleyville is the league leader in passing yards this season with 2065. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. On the ground, West Limestone's Pugh has rushed for 708 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Aaron McWilliams. The West Limestone star has 22 catches for 438 yards.
Rogers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,163 from 6,787. The improvement came about via a 33-6 victory over East Lawrence last week.
