Basketball Game Preview: Cassville Comets vs. Monticello Ponies

The Cassville Comets will venture away from home to take on the Monticello Ponies at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Cassville is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Cassville came up short against Potosi on Tuesday, falling 65-39. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 380th, while the Chieftains are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monticello, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 70-58 victory over Juda on Tuesday.

Monticello's win bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Cassville, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.

Cassville came out on top in a nail-biter against Monticello when the teams last played back in February of 2019, sneaking past 47-44. Will Cassville repeat their success, or does Monticello have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
